Who we are.
GivePowerDuke is the Duke University chapter of the GivePower Foundation. Our students raise funds, build partnerships and travel with GivePower to bring solar power and clean water to remote communities.

GivePower has powered 2,479 schools across 32 countries, impacted 2.82 million lives, and distributed over 547 million liters of safe water. We're here to add to that work.
Foundation figures per GivePower, September 2026

GivePowerDuke is a student organization at Duke University. The GivePower Foundation designs, builds and installs the solar and water systems. Our job is to support that work from campus and, when we can, in the field.
In practice that means three things: raising money for GivePower projects, building partnerships that help those projects go further, and sending members on GivePower Treks to install systems alongside the communities that use them.
We're one of GivePower's student chapters, alongside our sister chapter GivePowerUT.
Every member, technical or not, has a way to contribute to real projects in the field.
Who is GivePower?

GivePower is a nonprofit that engineers, builds, and delivers clean energy where it's needed most. Its mission is to electrify the world, because safe water, food security, education, and healthcare all depend on electricity.
It started in 2013 with a trip to Nicaragua, and the first GivePower Trek powered a single school in Haiti in 2014. Since then, GivePower has reached communities in 32 countries. It's a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Solar Impact Projects
Solar microgrids for schools, health clinics, and food processing centers, so students can study after sunset and communities can reach healthcare.
Solar Water Solutions
GivePower Solar Water Farms turn salty, brackish, or contaminated water into safe drinking water. GivePower’s water work has reached 1.4 million people.
GivePower Treks
Small teams of volunteers travel to a remote community, live alongside it, and install a solar microgrid to power it.
GivePowerDuke is GivePower's student chapter at Duke University. We raise funds and awareness on campus, build partnerships, and join GivePower Treks to install systems alongside the communities that use them.
